2010 Toyota 4Runner Review
I took a drive in a 2010 Toyota 4Runner at the new car dealer in Waukegan, and I have to say, I was excited to see how the fifth-generation 4Runner handled herself. Knowing how I would treat her (taking her across country from Chicago through Colorado and the Rocky Mountains on a yearly trip to Vegas), I cut her no slack, making short stops and turns. To my surprise, she handled well, even though those at the dealership looked at me a little oddly when I yelled “look out below” and avoided a giant, imaginative chasm. Hey, you have to see if she can put up with it.
The improvements on the 2010 Toyota 4Runner from the 2009 are as follows: the approach angle has been improved from 30 degrees to 33 degrees, the departure angle from 24 degrees to 26, and ground clearance improved from 9.1 to 9.6 inches, allowing for a more rugged ride and space to pass below. You can get either a 2.7L I-4 or a 4.0L V-6 engine. I, of course, would choose the 4.0. This baby also has a maximum towing capacity of 5,000, in case any of your buddies’ cars in your caravan need a lift when they can’t make it past the Rockies like you can.
The other new cars at Toyota Waukegan dealer Classic Toyota were sparkling, but the used cars were looking a little lonely, so I took a pre-owned car for a spin. I found the selection of Waukegan used cars at Classic to be well-kept, with great performance, low mileage, and good prices. However, I decided that day that the 2010 Toyota 4Runner, brand new in dealerships, is the car I need for my upcoming cross-country trips. The optional third-row seat in the back also makes the most sense if I want to catch a quick nap between thirty hours of driving, or to bring others along to do the driving with me, knowing how easily their cars give out and all.
