Toyota moves up in J.D. Power and Associates survey

In the latest Initial Quality Study (IQS) from J.D. Power and Associates, Toyota jumped a couple spots in the overall rankings, leaving long-time rivals like Ford Motor Co. behind. The study, which evaluates automotive nameplates based on the number of problems reported in the first ninety days of ownership, had Toyota ranked seventh (Ford dropped to 23rd overall). Toyota’s affiliate, Lexus, was top dog with only 73 problems identified in the first 100 Lexus vehicles examined.
