White House calls for 54.5 mpg by 2025; Toyota on board
The U.S. government has recently announced its plans for increasing fuel standards over the next decade; and Toyota, as a long-time purveyor of fuel-efficient vehicles, is committed to realizing these goals. The new plan from the Obama Administration is ambitious: a proposed fleet-wide average fuel-economy of 54.5 mpg, a 163 grams-per-mile reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and $1.7 trillion in savings at the pump – all by 2025. The plan is lofty, yes; but the plan is also a positive step towards the better fuel standards that we have been waiting for in the U.S.
