Toyota Increases Production on 2010 Prius
Waukegan Prius fans will be thrilled to learn that due to a great new product and very high demand, Toyota has decided to increase production on the new 2010 Prius.
Receiving 80,000 pre-orders, far more than expected, Toyota was flattered and overwhelmed by the amount of interest shown in the new model. Having only predicted 100,000 sales in all of 2009, the pre-orders alone exceeded all expectations. In order to satisfy all these sales, with extras to spare, Toyota increased production from 43,000 units to 50,000 units per month, a 25 percent increase.
Previously, Toyota had planned on producing 400,000 new 2010 Priuses per year once they are available everywhere. However, with this new increased demand, they have upped their numbers and will now be pumping out around half a million per year.
