June 10, 2009 Toyota News No Comments

toyota-prius-factoryWaukegan Prius fans will be thrilled to learn that due to a great new product and very high demand, Toyota has decided to increase production on the new 2010 Prius.

Receiving 80,000 pre-orders, far more than expected, Toyota was flattered and overwhelmed by the amount of interest shown in the new model. Having only predicted 100,000 sales in all of 2009, the pre-orders alone exceeded all expectations. In order to satisfy all these sales, with extras to spare, Toyota increased production from 43,000 units to 50,000 units per month, a 25 percent increase.

Previously, Toyota had planned on producing 400,000 new 2010 Priuses per year once they are available everywhere. However, with this new increased demand, they have upped their numbers and will now be pumping out around half a million per year.

This high demand is no shock for any Waukegan Toyota dealer. Consumers have been inquiring about its release date for a while now, and with much more attention being paid to the environment, more people have decided to go hybrid with their next vehicle. Also, with hybrids becoming more mainstream, a 2010 Prius seems like an exciting choice for many buyers.  The new model has more consumer appeal than ever before. With many exciting features, such as Bluetooth, backup camera, and improved fuel economy, the 2010 Prius is sure to deliver.

Also standard in the new model is an electronically controlled braking system along with electrical powered air conditioning and water pump and an optional solar roof package. These new features help the 2010 Prius achieve a 50-mpg EPA rating, the highest available to car buyers. This Chicago fuel efficient vehicle also offers three driving modes, in order to help drivers get the most out of their gas mileage. The electric-only, performance, and Prius-controlled optimum drive mode each put the driver in control, while offering higher fuel efficiency and handling. The engine in the new 2010 model is also larger than before. With a 0-60 speed of 9.8 seconds, its quicker than its predecessors and much of its competition.

While the exterior is still instantly recognizable, the interior has received a luxury-boost, and you can check out that improved comfort at Waukegan dealer Classic Toyota. Heated leather seats, a navigation system, and an optional automated self-park feature all boost the 2010 Prius’ luxury factor. And while anyone will still be able to recognize the 2010 Prius, it has had a bit of a facelift, looking sleeker and faster with sharper and bolder lines.

Considering all of these updates, it is no wonder that Waukegan Prius shoppers are so excited about the release of this year’s model. And with Toyota’s decision to increase production, more will be available for purchase. With 80,000 drivers already on board, this new model is sure to be Prius’ biggest success yet.
