Toyota teams up with SmartGridCity Project in Colorado
Rolling in one after another, Toyota’s accumulated an extensive list of awards, titles and recognitions. Their vehicles have been acknowledged as having the best resale value and outstanding safety features, while they also own the top selling hybrid and highest renowned reliability ratings in the automotive world.
They are now the only automaker who is a part of the SmartGridCity project put on by Xcel Energy. Xcel plans to “build out an entire community that combines traditional and cutting-edge technology to modernize our energy grid and provide new, innovative ways to provide you with the best service possible”.
Since the SmartGridCity project’s full focus is to better the ill environment, Toyota thought, what better car to team up with the project than the impressively efficient, world’s best selling hybrid, the 2010 Prius. As a part of this venture whose main purpose is to “provide increased grid reliability and energy use information”, Toyota Motor Sales has volunteered ten of their Prius vehicles to the testing grounds in Boulder, Co. SmartGridCity is currently in its pilot stage and is being offered to Boulder residents free of installation cost.
Toyota’s initial interest in getting involved in this project came from a very optimistic outlook on the future of energy efficiency along with realistic benefits for their brand: “Future customers will have high expectations for these emerging technologies. Demonstration programs like this will ensure that the vehicles we bring to market will not just meet customer expectations, but exceed them.”
Waukegan dealer, Classic Toyota, encourages drivers to stop in and test-drive the all-new 2010 Prius and see how simply you can do your part in helping our the environment, with all the comfort and performance of a regular gas guzzler.
